I have a beautiful bush on the side of my house, not sure what it is but just today I noticed half of it is dead. The leaves are totally gone and part is completely dead. Some parts that are still living have this whitish spots kinda like powder on them. It comes off when you wipe it. I really want to save this bush but I lack the green thumb. It was fine two days ago, so what ever it is is working pretty fast. Is there anything I can to quickly to save the rest of my bush, and make sure this doesnt spread to my other plants and bushes??
My Beautiful Shrub is being killed by white stuff!!?
Sounds like powdery mildew, and this is the perfect time of year for it. If it's on lilac, don't worry.

Reply:sounds like powdery mildew. spray with milk. I am not kidding on this one and blend up some garlic in blender with a littel water strain the solids out put in sprayer with milk, will clear that right up.
also fertilize with food specific for your plant garden center should be able to help it, you want to build up it's strength.
I got some on a rose last year and did the spray thing, cleared it right up, don't worry your plant should sprout new leaves. it is probably related to the rose family.
RRRR
Reply:Hi, is it bubbly type white stuff, or just where the leaves meet? It could be spittle bugs or Mealy Bugs. Try dipping a q-tip in rubbing alcohol and putting it on it. If they kinda disappear, then it's mealy Bugs, and yes they do a fast job of killing your plants. Mix 1/3 Rubbing Alcohol and 3/4 water, and spray your bush. You can also use mouthwash. Byee
Reply:It's powdery milldew! Spray it very hard with the hose in the morning so that it drys well. Don't let it get sprinkled on in the evening if its in the shade. Try some Apple Cider Vinegar about 1/4 cup to a 8oz of water and spray the leaves real well. Good luck!
