How do you shrub/small tree straighten, when it has grown at an angle?

I had a tree that had been in theground for some time and growing at an angle. I tried tieing it to a post to pull it back but that was unsuccessful So I dug underneath the ground I wanted the tree to lean to and then pushed it backwards and firmed it in with acouple of treads before putting the soil back.

The side it was leaning into, I did not touch the soil- seems to have worked.

How do you shrub/small tree straighten, when it has grown at an angle?
It may be due to the angle of the light recieved. ie, It can recieve more light if only your plant tilts towards one side.

The solution: replant it in a position where it can get more light.
Reply:put a stick in the ground next to it and tie it up
Reply:tie it up
Reply:If the tree is still young, you can straighten it with a one by one. Just hammer the one by one straight down next to the tree and train the tree towards the wood, then tie them together with the green plastic ties sold at nurseries. A better way will be to tie them with a horizontal 8 knot. You need to check later when the tree has grown bigger to loosen the tie somewhat, otherwise the tie will make a dent on the trunk.
Reply:take away some of the soil from the side it leans away from and put a stake in the groung about 2feet away from the plant tie some soft material eg old strip of blanket around the stem /trunk of the tree and tie it to the stake when you see that it is straight secure the soft material with a knot and fill in the soil where you took it out and water it
Reply:you maybe need to dig up again and turn it has either not been planted straight or is growing towards sun .

if its a heavy shrub sometimes trimming the leaning side will make the non leaning side be heavier and hopefully straighten up
Reply:Get the dirt around the plant soaked then push the tree/shrub in an upright position. Then tie cloth attached to a rope onto tree/shrub on all four sides of the tree/shrub being mindful not to pull to much in any direction.Drive four 2"x2" on the four sides each board approximately 2ft long. Drive 2x2s into ground about 1 foot into the ground. Tie the string onto the 2x2s being mindful of keeping the tree/shrub in the proper position.
Reply:Buy some tree ties they are long wide rubber bands with a notching system to tighten the tie round a fence post, if you buy a pointed fence post the type you use for post and wire,

hammer the post into the ground after losening the ground round the base of the tree ( if possible ) get someone to push the tree towards the post and tie it up you can then put a nail in the post through the tie to secure it.
