Is a shrub a tree?

... just curious... ?

Is a shrub a tree?
Here are the descriptions from my book:

"shrub a loose descriptive term for a woody plant which produces multiple stems, shoots or branches from its base, but does not have a distinct single trunk."

"tree a woody, perennial plant with a single main stem, generally branching at some distance from the ground and possessing a more or less distinct, elevated crown"

Hope this helps. :)
Reply:A shrub or bush is a horticultural rather than strictly botanical category of woody plant, distinguished from a tree by its multiple stems and lower height, usually less than 5-6 m (15-20 ft) tall. A large number of plants can be either shrubs or trees, depending on the growing conditions they experience.
Reply:half tree half bush. to big for a bush to small for a tree. thats why its a shrub haha thats simple. but seriously idk
Reply:Depends on the plant, some shrubs, such as a red tip petina can be a tree if not pruned.
Reply:Nope, different family of plants. It's a bush - even if it has an identity issue.
Reply:uh..... no i'm pretty positive a shrub is a bush. but they can tend to look like trees.
Reply:I always thought shrubs were more like bushes...but hey, I could be wrong.
Reply:no its more a bush
Reply:no
