Lonicera x purpusii 'Winter Beauty' is a winter flowering shrubby honeysuckle that will grow in most soil conditions and aspects.

Vibernum x bodnantense 'Dawn' is a tall slim stately shrub that has pink flowers on the bare stems.

I grow both of these shrubs they are in flower now, they are grown in good loamy soil with a very open aspect so get battered by the winds but still flower well, both are heavily perfumed.
Reply:Forsythia: Ribes (flowering currant) cherry blossom. Some kinds of Hebe.
Reply:Hi:

The Pieris Japonica is a great winter plant that will bloom in February and March. It has wonderful long white or pink flowers and is stunning in the winter months. I am not sure of your exact location, but another possiblity is the Camellia Japonicas. They bloom throughout the winter months as well as the Camellia Sasanqua. There are many differernt varieties and many beautiful colors.

If you need further help, please feel free to contact me at the website. Good luck to you. I will link you to the gallery of plants section as this has many differernt plant specimens that you might be able to use in Ireland. There are descriptions and zones. I will also link you to the site map as this has everything that is on the website. Browse through and see if there is anything else that may help. Have a great day!

Reply:Witch hazel (Hamamelis): 'Primavera' has large, exceptionally sweet-scented, soft yellow flowers, and blooms prolifically in early spring. 'Sunburst' flowers abundantly very early:

Forsythia: Since most bloom in April, make sure you get a variety that blooms in February , such as Golden Bells (Forsythia intermedia):

Reply:Looking out of my window ( and it is certainly cold and wet today ) the best thing in flower is a winter flowering small tree, prunus autumnalis or winter flowering cherry. Lovely pale pink flowers on bare branches. Also hamamelis mollis, the apricot coloured one...........nicer than the yellow I think.

My Pieris Forest Flame and Vibernum Bodnant do not flower until late March or April and they are big, well established shrubs.
Reply:Daphne Have a look on Google images. It is a lovely pink flower that has a nice scent
