Looking for a shrub?

Looking for a shrub?
You don't say if it will planted in a sunny or shady aspect so it is difficult to advise.

As it is going to be out front I would say go for an evergreen as it will look good all year and give you garden some structure during the winter.

Sun to partial shade -

Hebes come in all sizes from ground huggers to 5ft tall. They need almost no maintenance except to clip them over after flowering. Some varieties produce pinky coloured leaves that turn to green as they mature. Hebe 'Mrs Winder' is a mid size, has lovely flowers and colourful foliage.

Shade -

Viburnum davidii has deeply veined leaves, it also has flowers and berries so is a fantastic all rounder. It is my personal favourite for shady conditions.

or for winter interest try Sarcococca confusa had very glossy evergreen leaves and flowers in the winter with the most intense perfume.
Reply:Contact a local University which has:

a) a Horticultural program, and/or

b) a Master Gardener program extension.

Or contact a local plant nursery.
Reply:I agree with Lenard,Azalea.
Reply:Peony. Not a shrub, but a very hardy perennial. Mow in late fall.
