Looking for a type of shrub/bush?

I am looking for a type of shrub or bush. Here are a list of my requirements...

*Needs to be small (30 - 60cm)

*Needs to be dense and green all year round like a hedge

*Needs to be fairly easy to grow

*Needs to be a reasonably fast grower

*Needs to be able to be 'sculptured' into a shape (ball, box, cone etc)

*Needs to be able to be grown in a pot.

Any ideas?

dwarf Alberta spruce
Reply:First choice is Boxwood

then certain varieties of Juniper
Reply:Boxwoods are excellent for all your concerns
Reply:I think you can grow boxwood in containers. They have a small leaf, are evergreen and easily shaped and grow fairly rapidly.

Have you considered a topiary? You can make a wire frame in the shape you want and train ivy on it. Ivy grows very quickly. In the south, I believe it stays green all winter. I'm not sure about the north...
Reply:If you want something small, then don't listen to those telling you to plant boxwoods. Boxwoods usually grows from 90cm and up. You could try a euonymus emerald 'n gold. There are also many yews that stay small and can be shaped or even arborvitaes.
