What's a good evergreen shrub for north side of house?

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, zone 6 I think. I'd like something fast growing if possible, and hardy. The location is under the eaves of the house and on the north side, so it's quite shady. Looking for a shrub that will be at least 6 foot tall, and evergreen, flowers would be a plus but not a necessity. I have an alberta spruce and a juniper there now which are not doing well--not enough sun apparently.

Aucuba japonica; Cotoneaster; Eleagnus; Ilex; Mahonia aquifolium; Taxus baccata; Tsuga canadensis
Reply:The only evergreen conifer that usually likes shade is hemlock, and it does not like to be near house foundations. There might be some broadleaf ones that work. I've seen people growing holly (ilex) in part shade.
Reply:boxwood
Reply:I love camillias, flowers in late winter.also fatsia loves the shade, and has huge flower heads in summer, another I've used is bears breech,it has large folage and tall flower spikes.
Reply:You could try Mahonia Japonica or one of the other evergreen Mahonias which are able to survive the winter. They have yellow flowers and are a striking architectural shaped plant. Alternatively holly can do well and has the bonus of providing indoor decorations during winter. Good luck.
